LRS Wavelength Calibration

The information in this web page is based on the NEW PenRay calibration system for the LRS. These new Lamps have slightly different ratios of line strengths than the older lamps and we have a broader set of line lamps to use for each grism.

To speed the exposure time we actually combine the Cd and Hg lamps into a single exposure. These lamps are mixed with an Ar gas so there are occasions when a few Ar lines stand out in the exposures. So the lamp combinations that we have are:
CdHgAr
long Ar
short and long Xe
short and long Ne
