VIRUS Spectrograph

NOTE: The VIRUS commissioning team is maintaining additional documentation so please check: http://www.as.utexas.edu/~gebhardt/virususe/virususe.html

NOTE: The VIRUS parallel data working group is maintaining a wiki with important and useful information about accessing the parallel data:

(U: parallel P: VirussuriV)

  • Mar 2019 - the position of the IFU fibers on the sky was redistributed.
  • Oct 31 2019 - there are now 59 IFUs installed
  • Jun 1 2020 - there are now 71 IFUs installed - see the layout page for updated configuration details.
  • Aug 2021 - there are 78 units installed and most are operational
  • Feb 2022 - power supply issues caused VIRUS to be fully offline Feb 22-24 and with only 40/78 units from Feb 25-26. Normal operations resumed Feb 27th (all dates UT).
